Sure, it’s 2017, but there’s still nothing quite like a handshake, a smile, and hearing another person’s voice. That’s true in many parts of life, and the job search is no different. Sure, you can sit at your desk behind a computer screen and submit resume after resume with the click of a mouse, but you’re never going to get the kind of results that a face-to-face meeting generates.
Just think about it.
When you apply for jobs online, you’re just a number. How could you be anything more? The person – or software program – processing your resume has no idea who you are, how well you’d fit in with their company, what type of positive vibe you put out there, etc. But if you get in front of somebody who has the power to make hiring decisions, you automatically have a chance to make a real, memorable, positive impression – just by being you.
That face-to-face interaction is what the Multicultural Career Expo at Hilton Memphis March 13 is all about. Representatives from the Mid-South’s top employers will be in the same place at the same time for the sole purpose of talking to job seekers – like you – from diverse backgrounds. It’s an ideal opportunity to use your unique background, one-of-a-kind life experience, individual skillset, etc. to make an impression that sticks with them.
That’s just not something that happens online.
So, get up out of that desk chair, dig out your best professional clothes, and instead of pointing and clicking, actually print out a stack of resumes. On paper. The nice kind.
Don’t forget to register for the Expo at www.multiculturalcareerexpo.com, and then head on over to the Hilton Memphis next month to get the face time you need to succeed!
